When Kathy and I retired, learning to play Shuffleboard was at the Top of our list. We searched the island of Oahu and found the closest Shuffleboard venue was in Sun City CA 2,629 miles away.
We contacted Jim Allen, who suggested various construction methods and equipment choices. Jim also encouraged us to contact the USA National Shuffleboard Association, and we have been proud members ever since.
Hawaii Shuffleboard Association was established in 2014 at the Makaha Farm on Oahu. We now have the rightful distinction of being the oldest and largest Shuffleboard Association in the State of Hawaii, and the most remote Shuffleboard Association in the world.
HSA currently has about 20 active members and is available for private events such as weddings, corporate team building, family reunions, and luaus up to 60 people. These events help finance HSA's operating cost and tournament winnings. Our local style tournaments and events range from mild to wild.
When you're not playing shuffleboard, you can play our Hawaiian version of bocce ball, or compete for the Big Kahuna title in the tiki ring hook gazebo.
If you love the challenge of balancing stones and creating sculptures, then look no further. We have the perfect spot for you to showcase your skills and inspire others.
Our resident membership fee has remained the same since 2014: Annual dues is $30 BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage) and don't forget your smile! Tournament and event fees are determined by size and services requested. Visitors: Day rate $20 per person, weekly $80 per person. USA/NSA members, Corvette Club members, helicopter pilots and mechanics, and the occasional geologist are welcome at no charge.
